Educational video for students and teachers to learn about our rich diversity

Who We Are

Advocates for Inclusive Middle Eastern Education (AIMEE) is a growing coalition of major community groups representing millions of Americans who trace their ancestry to indigenous communities of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The coalition was formed to advocate for a more inclusive and higher quality California Ethnic Studies curriculum that recognizes and represents the ethnic diversity of the Middle East and North Africa region – also known as SWANA (Southwest Asia and North Africa).

Our diverse Middle Eastern communities comprise a minority-majority coalition, representing at least 60% of the Middle Eastern diasporic population in North America – yet we are often omitted or misrepresented in Ethnic Studies and Social Science curricula. We believe American students deserve to learn about our rich and diverse communities and we reject the weaponization of our identities and experiences to serve narrow idealogical agendas that often times harm our communities.

Please reach out for lesson plans and educational materials from our coalition.
